I chose this challenge because the reviews were insane! and a lot of people expressed their positive results freely. I also liked the time frame of 6 weeks, this is perfect for me and flows right into summer! lol. Also there is an extremely supportive facebook group called Shred Nation and they are just the perfect added bonus!

This is my first REAL challenge. (Why? You ask?) Fear of commitment!!! But then again where would we be if we let fear take control of every situation in our lives? (Nowhere,Exactly) Never the less I am also fearful of not sticking to the program, but honestly hey, its day three, I feel Greattt and I actually do want to continue. My Goal is just to tone up and be healthy again. Im ready and excited. As usual I am on this journey with my fuel band. Pray for me!!! Lets see how this 6 weeks will pan out!

I must say Mr. Hutch and his team are absolutely amazing at what they do! Their Luxury execution of events are just exceptional. This event was sponsored by Uptown Magazine, Nail Chemistry, Plush Salon, Carol’s Daughter, Organic Root Stimulator, Glamorous Chicks, Travalo and a few others. Apart from the amazing sponsors, this event featured a 2 hour open bar and other delectable treats for the tastebuds (one of my fav parts! lol)

The Fashion at this event was thoroughly enjoyed by my camera and I. (we had such a time! lol) Hutch by Design events are always extremely fashionable and I decided to capture some of the outfits on the red carpet.

And this lovely lady won a contest sponsored by Hutch by Design and Plush Salon! She won an entire makeover and was revealed at the event. I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the event also, and she was flawless when they were done with her!

All in All this was an Epic Event! I was never bored, something was always happening in locations at the entire event, I ate! I drank! and the venue was beautiful. It was definitely LGStyle Approved!!

Who is this Mysterious Gem?

Hari Marie was Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She was brought up by two of the most inspiring people, her parents both hailing from the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago . She most definitely had an interesting upbringing. Her mother, a very intelligent, beautiful, and independent woman, always taught her to utilize her creativity and never settle for less. Her father, the first entrepreneur in her family taught her organization and conviction.

Like most, she found her true career passion during her college years. Although she was majoring in economics her interests were almost always taken up by her extra curricular affairs.

Her cousin who is one of biggest female promoters in the Caribbean, NY community needed assistance in executing her events, and this is when Hari found her true calling. She was almost always needed in major decisions and her opinions were most appreciated. That was the time Hari decided that event planning is not only something she was naturally great at, but something she would absolutely love to do.

With her parents guidance and encouragement she graduated St Francis College with a BA in Economics and a minor in Finance. Following in her fathers footsteps, She would like to some day start her own Event Planning company; producing weddings, corporate events and more.

True Story:

I began by shooting some before pictures of Hari, where her innocence is really very evident. (she is such a sweet girl).

45 minutes later She was #beatbyxayli and her innocent smile was replaced with a seductive snare. (She even stuck her tongue out at us. LOL)

We spent a few minutes putting her clothing together and finally I was able to fine tune her entire outfit and prep her for shooting. We climbed up to the roof in the dark 45 degree NYC weather and captured some dope shots up there.

We got some awesome shots! I’m no professional photographer but we had lots of fun!

(I kept this photo especially because it shows how deep of a person Hari is.. I see her face three different times in this photo. Can you?)

We even got back into the house and shot a few white wall portraits.

We switched outfits and had some lobby fun too!!

All in all I had so much fun transforming this LondonGyal it was unbelievable. She was truly a gem throughout the entire process….

Recently after beginning to do tedious workouts again, I ended up with the worst post workout aches and pains. I decided to try ice baths, but after my first one I don’t think I have the heart to continue (extremely painful ugh). Don’t get me wrong, after the ice bath my body felt really good, But, I’m not sure I could get used to sitting in ice all the time. I thought, (there must be something much more comfortable than this). That is when I remembered my grandmother used to soak her feet in Epsom Salts any time they were in pain.

I got online as I often do with everything else I want to research and I could not believe the many benefits, other than relieving aching feet that were associated with ES. By the time I was done reading, I ran to CVS (thank God that there is one close by) and grabbed a huge bag of this “miracle stuff” for $6.49. Now fear not, epsom salts are not to mixed up with the notorious bath salts, although it is used in baths. Actually despite the name, Epsom Salt is really a mineral compromised of Magnesium and Sulphate.

(We know I absolutely love beauty tips and tricks!)

Epsom Salt can be mixed with honey and olive oil to create a hydrating body scrub. (you have to try this!!!!!)

It can be combined with lemon to degunkify (thats not a word lol) hair before shampooing. somewhat like a pre shampoo treatment.

Epsom salt also clears your skin and assists in the removal of blackheads.

It is also great for detoxifying your body inside and out and is also recommended by the Great Dr Oz. (and we all know whatever he says goes lol)

Its great for pulling splinters out of your skin because it is able to draw out objects from the body.

It is also a FDA approved laxative! A teaspoon in some water or orange juice, but be careful not to ingest too much as it can be harmful.

I just gave you a few great qualities, But just to relax your muscles and put you in a great mood, run a hot bath and sprinkle 2 cups of epsom salt in there along with your fav essential oil, light a candle and soak for a 20 minutes. I guarantee you will sleep like a baby. Sweet Dreams….

However! Recently I have started actually making the time, and I have been enjoying it to the fullest. It has allowed me to really begin understanding myself and my goals all over again. I have even started eating healthier because of writing down all of my goals. (Crazy right?) Could just writing your thoughts and feelings make someone feel like a whole new person? Because thats how I’ve been feeling lately!

I got this really cool journal from Target. It is really very inspirational because it has some really great questions in it, that every person should answer at some point in life. These questions make you look at things from different angles and motivate you to even be a better you.

I immediately got to work trying to fit her into my schedule, especially since she would only be in the US for a few days. I began creating and prepping her outfit and such being that we also had limited time to shoot.I love creating original stuff as we all know, so I wanted to make sure that the majority of her outfit was Designed By ME! XayLi! I had her figured out on my mannequin (whose name is Hillary btw) before she even got here.

Isn’t she a doll? Meet Rachel. Here I have provided a before picture (left) and after picture (right) of her getting pampered by me. I provided black and white photographs so that your vision would not be hindered by the colors in each photo. Just true beauty.

After fixing her a lovely cocktail, she began to relax and I was able to carefully whizz through doing her makeup, hair and getting her into her outfit. Seeing someone this excited about how different they look when I have completed their styling is one of the greatest joys that I get from doing what I do. I love inspiring women, and capturing the moment of creating a comfortable and confident individual. (I’m not a professional photographer *im working at it though*, but that moment is so precious.. that not catching it would be a sin).

We had fun shooting for a while. My how time flew!

I had so much fun introducing her to the other side of herself.

She even really started modeling! I absolutely loved it!

These items are either designed, chosen, or altered very carefully. I take pride in what we carry in the store as it is also a representation of my own style.

Our most recent accessory are LG custom Military headdress. I am extremely excited about this, it’s something that I have wanted to do forever! I had to take a few head shots recently for marketing and these were the results!
